What is “staging” and will you help us with that?

Staging is the process of preparing a property for sale. It’s important because it not only adds value to your home, but it also lessens the amount of time your home will be on the market. An agent who doesn’t talk to you about staging probably doesn’t plan on helping you with it, or thinks you’d be offended by his suggestions that you make changes to the home just to appeal to potential buyers. A successful Realtor will find a way to help you with proper staging regardless.

If an agent has staff or not doesn’t necessarily mean better service for you, but it might mean that the agent has more time to get out of the office and sell houses, instead of filling out paperwork and creating marketing material.

Ask the agent to explain what methods are used to determine if an individual meets the requirements so that no one’s time is wasted with deals “gone bad” etc.

What fees should I be aware of?

The amount that goes to the real estate agents, the brokerage fees, is not a set amount. It’s negotiable, although there is usually an average amount for each area. An agent can agree to work for less (or more), but the theory is that if it’s less (or more) the seller gets what they pay for!  Other fees may include:
